China Announces Media Crackdown [NYT]
The Chinese government has stated that it is going to aggressively punish “false news reports, unauthorized publications and bogus journalists” and that “those who intentionally fabricated news that…tarnished the nation’s image would be harshly dealt with…” This announcement curiously coincides with the next Communist Party congress in two months.
