Getting Hits with the Wii

by Allison

In EA’s “Tiger Woods PGA Golf Tour,” golfers swing Nike clubs. “Everquest II” players can order a pie from Pizza Hut. Skaters in “Tony Hawk” text on Nokia phones and “Madden Football” is played in a fully branded stadium. Indeed, in-game ads are growing…. out of the game.

Just as you can jam on a mini Gibson SG or Les Paul when playing Guitar Hero, now Wii tennis players can swing Prince rackets. The tennis company is partnering with Qualtech Global to make a frame for the Wiimote that actually looks like a racket. What a great way to integrate a brand into the best-selling console worldwide. We can’t wait to see how many competitors carry these to the next Wiimbledon.
