This past Wednesday, Laptop Magazine recognized seven innovative mobile products and applications with the Best of CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment award. The winning services and products included AAA Mobile for best location-based application, GestureTek EyeMobile Engine for best entertainment application, and Dashwire for best under-the-radar product. Dashwire’s win was particularly notable because “under-the-radar” meant that it had not been presented at the CTIA Wireless conference.
Web 2.0 has seamlessly integrated the internet into our everyday lives and Laptop’s picks recognize products that enhance the way we socialize, work, and stay entertained no matter where we are. They keep us connected to online resources every minute we’re awake. AAA Mobile, part of Verizon’s deck, will tame your next roadtrip, GestureTek EyeMobile brings Wii-style motion control gaming to your cell phone, and Dashwire synchs your smartphone with your PC.
Using GPS, AAA Mobile delivers audio and visual directions to any U.S. location and offers AAA recommended sites like Diamond Rated hotels and restaurants along with detailed subscriber reviews. Travelers can personalize maps my bookmarking favorite locations and reach roadside assistance with a single click. Location-based services like AAA Mobile will soon eliminate the idea of a foreign location with virtual tags, reviews, and clips littering every possible corner of globe.
GestureTek EyeMobile uses real-time actions for game control, but the actions aren’t limited to gaming. You’ll be able to use motions like driving, throwing, and fly-casting (a flick of the wrist) to perform conventional mobile functions like answering your phone or clicking through photos.
Dashwire doesn’t have the same quirk or cool factor but it’ll allow you to display content, edit contacts, add photos, and create bookmarks for your cell phone, right from your PC. You’ll even be able to receive and respond to real-time texts on your computer using your cell phone number. More functions are reportedly in the works. Pretty soon, each of your digital devices will be as naturally integrated as limbs on a body.
