How many subway rides did we spend reading Dr. Zizmor ads, wishing we could catch up on our overflowing RSS instead? When debating whether to get an iPhone, these are what sold us. Rather than printing out every item, they let you take the web to-go.

Instapaper lets you save web pages from your desktop (via an easy browser button) and read them on your iPhone, even when you are offline. Instapaper saves two versions of each page whenever possible: the Web view and the Text view. Simply install the app and download your unread articles when you have WiFi, EDGE, or 3G coverage, then you can read them anytime.

Byline is very similar, but it works with your Google Reader. Byline will automatically bring you new content, putting thousands of RSS and Atom feeds at your fingertips all the time (which actually terrifies us).
When you read an item, it stays read. The same goes for the items you star: Byline will let Google Reader know the next time you have an internet connection. Even when you have no internet connection, Byline’s offline browsing feature gives you instant access to entire web pages. Perfect for flights, subway journeys, and (if you’re an iPod Touch owner) those long dry spells between Wi-Fi zones.
